Dialogue

Way of the Writer - with David Kilmer

Alexandra secured her seatbelt and contemplated taking another Valium . She was not a good flier to say the least. She would white knuckle the armrest with even the smallest amount of turbulence. Between her fear of the plane plunging to the ground and her poor equilibrium , she felt justified in self medicating. Considering she had already taken one and a half since leaving Spokane that morning, she surprisingly had the wherewithal to question the validity of adding to her already dulled self. Her vision was a bit blurred as she tried to count the remaining pills. She was moving in slow motion when she heard a voice next to her. It took her foggy brian a few seconds to register that someone was speaking to her. She raised her head slowly brushing back from her face the dark auburn strands that escaped her bun and seemed plastered to the side of her mouth by, what?... drool ?Appalled, she quickly swiped her mouth while pretending to look down for something. When she looked up her green eyes landed on the most beautiful face she had ever seen. “Looks like I’m just in time for the party,” the tan, blonde guy with ...she squinted to make sure she saw correctly,...Sex Wax ...printed on his t-shirt . “Huh?”, Alexandra stammered, wiping another trickle of drool from her mouth. “Busted,” he smirked as he took the aisle seat next to her. “What?, No,” clearing her voice, “I mean these are prescribed . I would never,”. She couldn’t help but watch as he folded his long frame into the seat next to her. “I’m Brody “ “I’m Alexandra ,” and stuck out her hand but he was busy stowing his backpack under the seat. Really,? A backpack? Alexandra watched stupefied then drew her eyes back up to him to gauge his age. She brought her attention back to more important things- mainly just how many tiny yellow pills were left in her bottle, and fretting slightly because she knew too well how difficult it is to get this prescription renewed . Her doctor was very stingy with how many she would give out each year. I guess the AMA is cracking down on Physicians prescribing controlled drugs with the opioid crisis, but really, do I look like this is my gateway drug she wondered as her vision deviated once again and she giggled to herself. Once they were in the air Brody ordered vodka and soda while Alexandra got a diet coke.Brody raised his glass to her “I’m a purist,'' ,but to each his own” . “I’m just a bad flier! That’s it,” Alexandra clarified. “ No worries, Love, No judgment from me.” She gave up and turned her attention to her novel but couldn’t see the words well with her already declining vision that was now compounded by the valium, but she’d be damned if she was going to put on her reading glasses next to Mr. Wax me up Wax me down
